Centennial for Racial Justice: Call to Action

“Justice is what love looks like in public.” Cornel West
We believe that God’s Kingdom is a kingdom of justice, unity and strength, and that all people are made in the image of God. To love Christ is to be actively opposing all forms of racism (explicit, implicit, systemic and individual) in pursuit of reparation, reconciliation and meaningful justice.
The Centennial for Racial Justice team was formed to call our entire congregation into action to illuminate and dismantle racism within the culture of our church community and the communities in which we live.
We call ourselves forward to take the following actions:
  • To celebrate all of God’s children by centering the leadership and voices of people who identify as Indigenous, Black, African-American and People of Color
  • To educate and support individual anti-racism journeys toward repentance and action.
  • To create a church culture of anti-racism by routinely reviewing and correcting our spiritual practices, policies and procedures in every corner of our church community.
  • To champion principles of equity and reparations through our church’s financial investment into Indigenous, Black, and African-American communities and other People of Color.
  • To engage with churches and local communities in speaking out publicly for police and government accountability regarding racial profiling, misconduct, abuse and killings.  (Resolution 3379)
