Justice

General Conference Summary: Our United Methodist General Conference wrapped up May 3 with historic decisions on many fronts. The United Methodist Church’s longtime condemnation of homosexuality—which sparked a half-century of conflict—is now no more.  The stage is set for a new regional structure for our denomination. The ban on ordination of gay clergy has been lifted. You can find the Minnesota Annual Conference’s summary of these and other major decisions at: https://www.minnesotaumc.org/newsdetail/summary-of-key-decisions-from-the-postponed-2020-general-conference-18356278

Visit the Rondo Commemorative Plaza:
315 Fisk Street, St. Paul – Learn more about the history of the Rondo Neighborhood of St. Paul at the Rondo Center of Diverse Expression, whose mission is to rekindle the spirit of Rondo and the preservation of those values that sustained Rondo through the devastation of its community.  Visit the small museum, art display, and artifacts interpreting the Rondo experience.

Sacred Sites Tours: Tours are led by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Kelly Sherman Conroy (Oglala Lakota). The tours offer an opportunity to learn about Minnesota history from a Native perspective through story-telling and experiencing the sites in silence / meditation / reflection. www.mnchurches.org/what-we-do/healing-minnesota-stories
