FaithWalk (Sunday School)

For preschool and Elementary children, Sunday mornings include both worship and class time. From September through May, all children go to worship with their families at 10:30 a.m. and are excused from the sanctuary following the Time with Children. Children’s Faithwalk classes run until 11:45 a.m. giving parents time after worship to greet friends and new guests, check the bulletin boards, etc.
Children in Grades K-5 spend 3 or 4 weeks exploring a single Bible story through a variety of hands-on experiences. This Sunday school model is known as Workshop Rotation. Each class has an adult Class Leader who I with them all year and travels with them to each of the workshops. Workshop Leaders sign up for one unit, prepare one lesson and are visited by a different class each week. Workshops include cooking, science, storytelling, games, movie, computer, and art.

Milestone Ministry

Milestones are the significant cultural and developmental markers that we experiences throughout our lives. They are our firsts. There are ordinary firsts or steps and teeth, walkig and talking. There are also firsts of our faith life: baptism, beginning Sunday School, receiving a Bible, and more.

Centennial’s Milestone Ministry helps to make a connection between our everyday lives and our faith life.
Milestone Events are designed as parent and child together time (Childcare for siblings is available). They are usually from noon to 1:30 p.m. on a Sunday and begin with a shared meal for children and their parents. All will include a craft and other hands-on activities as part of the learning time.

Milestones at Centennial

Age 3 – Welcome to FaithWalk – A Saturday visit to the Preschool FaithWalk classroom to meet the teachers. On Sunday children receive a Bible Story Book in worship.

Age 4 – I Can Pray – Learning to pray together, including family prayers for all occasions.
Kindergarten – Touch & See My Church – A chance to explore the sanctuary “behind the scenes” and learn more about worship.

Grade 1 – Touch the Water – Learn about the sacrament of Baptism

Grade 2 – Taste the Bread – Learning about Holy Communion and what it means for us. Families receive communion together in worship the following Sunday.

Grade 3 – A Bible of My Own – Bibles are presented in worship. Learning about the Bible and how to use it.

Grade 4 – Worship Around the Year – Learning about worship and the liturgical calendar (Advent, Lent, Pentecost, etc.)

Grade 5 – Heart of a Servant – Learning about and practicing mission and service to the world in Christ’s name. This is a steppingstone to Middle School Youth ministry.

Zone 345

We invite all children in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to get in the zone and join us for our monthly activities.
Being a part of Zone 345 helps to build relationships with those in your class and those a year younger or older. These are friendships that we hope will continue to grow as you move on to Middle School and Senior High youth activities.

Zone 345 is all about friends, faith, and fun!

Activities include plays, corn mazes, movie, Christmas parties, and more!
