Adult Faith Formation

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, encouraged people to participate in small groups called "classes" to study, pray, support one another and to serve those in need. We at Centennial believe, as did Wesley, that attending worship is not enough to help you along in your journey as a disciple. We use the name “FaithWalk” to talk about the many Christian education opportunities offered at Centennial Church. FaithWalk includes two important words joined together. As Christians, we are people of faith who journey (walk) alone and with others as we explore what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ in today’s world.

FaithWalk includes faith forming opportunities for all ages, whether they are offered Sundays, weekdays, or evenings. The opportunities may be small groups, large gatherings, retreats, classes, or seminars. They may be short-term, long-term, or on-going.

Adult FaithWalk currently offers three Sunday morning study groups:

  • Early Adult Class - meets in the Young Adult Lounge at 9:30 a.m. This class uses a variety of curriculum to look at the intersection of faith and everyday life. Leader: Joy O'Donnell

  • Bible Study – meets in Asbury 2 at 10:15 a.m.  This class uses the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum with stimulating lessons that explore ways to understand the Biblical message and apply it to everyday life. Great  discussion and fellowship. Leader: Faye Hunt

  • Connectivity – meets in Asbury 1 at 10:30 a.m. for thought-provoking conversation about a variety of contemporary faith issues using video and books to begin the discussions. Coordinators: Jan & Jim House

On-goingWeekday Offerings include:

  • Pathways to Spirituality  - meets on the first Monday of each month, 6:00-7:00 PM in the Centennial Chapel. An opportunity to experience the value of reflection and quiet meditation, to be mindful of God’s spirit working in and through us. Facilitator: Alexa Umbreit

  • Women’s FaithWalk meets the second and fourth Mondays, 7:00-8:30 PM at church. This is a book study-based group with reflection, discussion, and fellowship. Join us for lively discussion. Facilitator: Jane Gilbert
